cause they mean so much for me right now I was wondering if i could keep up along with those two.
I train in kung fu and I am very serious about it
Can I produce excellent results in both martial art and school(university)?
I read in the "book of a five rings" that you have to master both "pen and sword"
so you have to learn both and i think you could arrange your time so you could do both learning and training
Reply:Yes you very well can as long as you keep training and studying more and more every day .
Reply:Yes, sir, you certainly can do that. Our son received his black belt when he was a junior at UCBerkeley. The focus learned in the martial arts helps one to focus when studying as well.
Go for it!!!
Reply:It may be difficult especially if you are taking a heavy load or majoring in something like pre-med or engineering. You may have to reduce your training time and or get better at managing it if you are not already in order to do both. If you can't don't get discouraged and stick with your education and do some light stretching and working out maybe just once a week. When you are finished with school you can go back to it.
I have two groups of former students-those that went to college and basically gave up martial arts and those that did not go to college. The ones that went to college and finished can easily afford classes now and have some time to pick back up studying martial arts. The ones that did not got to college or finish can't afford it, have to work terrible jobs, and are usually to tired from working to continue studying martial arts. Stick with college and good luck.
Reply:I actualy know a guy who got a bachelor's degree in martial arts from IU.... Best of both worlds?
Reply:Yes,it's possible if you work hard for both of them!I practice Wushu and Tai Chi and I'm also a top student in my class(I'm at high school).I take part in contests for school and even in plays and I also take part in the Wushu Nationals-I managed to get third place the first time I took part and now I'm aiming for the gold medal!
Reply:You must manage your time and keep your mind focused upon your goals. If you want it bad enough, you can do it.
Reply:I agree with John, make school a priority. Even if you cannot train as much as you want right now, if you look at the big picture, school is so much more important. He is so right, the people who go to school are much more able to do what they want later in life...
That being said, you certainly can do both if you set your mind to it and make the sacrfices that are necessary. An hour of training a day is not impossible (and that is all you need if you train wisely). I would guess that you are not studying for 18 hours a day and getting only 6 hours of sleep...
There is always time for the important things (kids, jobs, family, etc). It always comes down to your ability to use your time wisely. If you can learn this skill now in college, you will succeed at so much in your life. Good luck!
